Trunyan Village is a remote mountain village on the eastern lakeside of Batur, in central Bali’s Kintamani highlands. Trunyan village is one of the oldest village in Bali, the settlement is known for its indigenous Balinese community, known as the Bali Aga, who have unique burial rites.
Truyan is most known for its unique tradition which, burying the body of the dead on the ground aka its not even buried. When a villager dies, their remains are wrapped and brought by boat to this site, then laid out on the ground around a large old tree that’s believed to only grow here. This doesn’t even induce a horrible smell. If you like to visit Truyan Village you must crossed the sea by boat for 30 minutes
